5/5/12 - Water On

Due to the current warm weather, and the resulting snow melt up high, Clear Creek did come up enough to put our 1871 rights in priority. That's the good news. Unfortunately, the snow pack is so low that this melt will make the summer irrigation season even shorter.

5/4/12 - Ditch Update - From the Ditch Manager

"The call on clear creek is currently senior to the 1871 water and therefore not enough water to run the pump station. The ADRC is borrowing and building up an account to be repaid later. It takes approximately 90 days to make one weekend rotation run later in the year.

"When, and IF, the 1871 call is on clear creek…..the pump station will be on while the 1871 call is in priority and then turned off when the call becomes senior to the 1871. Then, based upon the borrowed water account, the ADRC will pay back the borrowed water later in the summer as we have done in the past. If the 1871 call is priority at all this summer, it will likely not be in priority for very long. At this point our only hope is for very frequent rains storms. Hope this explanation helps."

3/21/12 - Board Meeting - See the link on the left or click HERE for today's board meeting notes. We do not yet have an idea when the ditch will come on for this season - but we do believe it will be "soon". PLEASE make sure your laterals are clear of leaves and debris. Click on the graph at the bottom of the page for a link to the real time level of Clear Creek. The Welch normally comes on when Clear Creek reaches roughly 200 cfs.

8/31/11 - Rotation Schedule

We received word from the ditch manager today that the rotation for this year will be as follows:

ON: Friday 2nd at 8am and OFF Sun 4th at 8am

ON: Friday 16th at 8am and OFF Sun 18th at 8am

Remember that it takes 6-8 hours to wet the ditch before users can start taking water.

8/23/11 - End of Season

We received word from the ditch manager today that the call is likely to change tomorrow, August 24, 2011 and the Welch will go off. It's been a wonderful season this year but the snow melt can't last forever. We will post informaion regarding rotation dates as soon as we have it.

6/30/11 - Ditch Off

The ditch has been turned off today so that the company can test head gates and flows through the coors brewing facility. It should be turned back on by this evening.

A continuation meeting of the Welch Ditch User Association was held on May 18, 2011. If you would like to read the minutes from the Meeting that was held on May 18th, please click HERE. At this meeting, several proxies were submitted and a sufficient number of members were either attending or represented to form a quorum.

4/27/11 - Continuation Meeting Minutes Posted -

A continuation meeting of the Welch Ditch User Association was held on April 27, 2011. If you would like to read the minutes from the Meeting that was held on April 27th, please click HERE. Unfortunately, we did not have a quorum in attendance at the meeting, so we could not elect Board Members as we intended. There are several pressing issues that need attention, so we will mail out additional notices and have another meeting on May 18th.

12/2/10 - New Board Notes - Brief notes from the Board Meeting of Dec 1 have been posted.

8/28/10 - Rotation Schedule - With the amount of rainfall during the Spring, as well as earlier in August, it has been difficult for the Ditch Superintendant to predict the amount of rotation water that is due to us this season. As of yesterday, it appeared that we would have 72 hours of rotation water to be paid back.

For this season's rotation, several options were discussed. We took into account the amount of time it takes to "wet the ditch", as well as the feelings of the group last year when we only had one rotation.

We ultimately decided that we would have two rotations - the first being next Friday and Saturday (Sept 3rd and 4th) and then again on the 17th and 18th.

The Ditch Company will be sending out notices in the mail this week.

8/16/10 - End of Season update - We've been pretty fortunate these past couple of weeks with the rain in the Mountains, which has kept the ditch running.

The rotation schedule for this season has still not been determined yet. Please keep in mind that, because the ditch is running, the Ag is not borrowing water from the Welch right now. Also, we did have a fairly wet Spring again this year, so we don't know yet whether we will have one or two rotations.

7/23/10 - End of Season - ALREADY??!!?? - Yes, folks. We just got the call from the Ditch Superintendant that HE just got the call from the State Engineer saying that the priority is likely to go off tomorrow. How time flies!

The rotation schedule for this season has not been determined yet. We did have a fairly wet Spring again this year, so we don't know yet whether we will have one or two rotations.

7/10/10 - New Graph Below - Please scroll down to the bottom of the page for a new graph of the flow for June/July. Click on the graph to see real time data. It's been fairly wet this year so we haven't needed that much water yet. But based this graph, we may not have the Welch much longer this year! The State Engineer normally takes us out of priority when Clear Creek gets down to about 200cfs, and it's already down to about 275.

4/22/10 - Ditch ON and Bylaws Available - The Welch ditch came on this week and we believe that it is likely on for the season. A PDF copy of the Company's Bylaws has been created and can be obtained by using the Contact Us link to request the file.

4/14/10 - Board Meeting - See the link on the left or click HERE for today's board meeting notes.

3/25/10 - Delinquent Users - The ditch manager has informed us of two possible problem accounts. If anyone can help us to track down details for these accounts, please contact us by clicking the "Contact Us" link on this site.

(1) The Invoice sent to Kathy Scrivner @ 1234 Orchard Road was returned to us by the post office as refused and unable to forward. The total delinquent amount includes the user charges for 2009 with late fees and finance charges. The Jefferson County Property search website shows a warranty deed from her to Arly Miner in Oct. of 2008 – I don’t know, however, if the deed included anything about Welch Ditch Contract inches.

(2) Also, the account for Claudia Harvey is 2 years delinquent. The 2008 user charge payment was made by Meadowbrook Assisted Living Home with same address of 971 Welch Street – The JeffCo website shows that the property was deeded to Christopher and Marni Elliott – I talked with both Christopher in the office and to the realtor agent back then and gave them both the requirements for transfer and a blank quitclaim deed form. In 2008 the JeffCo Website shows the property being deeded to Meadowbrook Assisted Living Home LLC and the 2008 user charge payment was made by them. I have not heard from anyone since then.
